Hall CheckList

Here is a checklist that will help you to make a success of your event (see also Band Checklist):

No

Topic/Item

1

The Government has recently changed the law concerning public entertainment and there is a new requirement for venues to have a Public Entertainments Licence [PEL].

Please will you confirm whether the venue has a PEL; if you are not sure, contact the hall bookings secretary. More details about PEL on the government website: http://www.culture.gov.uk

2

Does the hall have a sound limiter that cuts the power to the stage if the level is above the threshold for around 20 seconds ?

3

Are there trip switches on the electrical supply ?
If so do you know where the reset switches are ?
If they are in a cupboard, will the cupboard be open during the event?
Note that this can bring the dance to a standstill for at least half an hour if this is not clarified beforehand

4

Can you supply a valid postcode for the venue ? If so, what is it ?

5

What are the contact details on the evening ? (mobile or hall phone number)

6

Lighting
Is there a well-lit stage available for the band ?
Do you know where the controls are for the stage lighting
Do you know where the controls (dimmers) are for the hall lighting

7

Is the event being held in a Barn, a Marquee or in the open  ?
Note :   If so, special conditions apply.

Be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.
